REFRAME #4: DON’T RAPE.

“don’t get raped”     DON’T RAPE.

Ending rape includes more than simply arresting perpetrators. Whether intentional or not, we have a cultural infrastructure that breeds violence and victim blaming. The term Rape Supportive Culture was coined to describe a culture in which sexual violence is common and where prevalent attitudes, practices, and media normalize, excuse, or even condone sexual violence. Although this term contains the word “rape,” the concept is meant to encompass all forms of violent behavior (stalking, sexual harassment, sexual assault, molestation, street harassment, voyeurism/peeping, rape, etc.)

One of the first steps to reducing rates of violence is to REFRAME any elements of our society that contribute to Rape Supportive Culture.
